Indigo Girls, Fricking Muses, and Andi McDowell

We saw the Indigo Girls play at our smallish minor league baseball field last night. The Girls may be older (by a few short years) than me, but like me, they’ve still got it going on. They rocked. And wailed. And spread the love.

I’ve got a deadline tomorrow for the Manuscript Mart at the NC Writers Network Conference of 20 pages of a fiction manuscript. The novel muse whacked me over the head this morning (she ALWAYS waits to the last minute, the beeyatch). Suffice it to say that I’ve just written the first chapter of a new novel–a murder mystery, and I somehow think I’m going to write two more chapters and a one-page synopsis in the next 24 hours, so I can PAY to have a 25-minute pitch session with an agent at the conference. So, instead of giving you more details about the concert last night, I am copying what I wrote in an e-mail to Ash this morning, and that he then posted on his bloggie because he’s all about celebrity moments. You’ll have to go visit him for photos of Andi because I’m too lazy to copy them.

I’ll be back. I think.

From Ash:

“Andi McDowell: 10,000 Lesbians Can’t Be Wrong

So Edgy Mama went to the big Indigo Girls show Saturday night at McCormick Field. She reported that the show was one big, mellow lesbo love-fest. Good show. Plenty of empty seats up front.

And Andie Mac! Yes! Lovely Andie, our own little starlet who isn’t getting married again anytime soon, partied with Amy and Emily. Here’s EM’s report:

O, and I saw Andi McDowell a few times. She came in with four of her well-coiffed Biltmore Forest lady friends, then proceeded to show herself off for the crowd. She climbed up on this wall in front of first base and sat there in this very posey way and flirted with a couple of cops, who, interestingly enough, didn’t make her move from her perch (doubt they would have let anyone else sit up there). Every time I’ve seen her around town, it seems clear that she’s enamored with her own celebrity, which I guess is a good thing. She is eye-catching, for sure, with her mass of black curls cascading down her ramrod-straight back. She seemed to have grown since I last saw her at Greenlife. Then I noticed she was wearing black boots with three-inch heels.”

O yes. The mass of cascading curls. The ramrod back. The “yeah, I’m a movie star, beeyatch” attitude. O yes. O how we heart Andie!!!

Editor’s note: Just to be clear, Edgy Mama reports that, in fact, there were approximately 3,000 lesbians in attendance at last night’s concert, not 10,000. And about 20 men, who were in fantasy heaven all night.”

They must have been inexperienced men.

Men who’ve been around the world know that no true lesbian will ever have a second glance for them, much less the desire to take off their clothes.

    Glad the concert rocked, though.

That was a great concert, no? But what was up with the McCormick folks leaving the net up all the way around the field, thus obstructing the view for most of the people in the stands?

I have posted about how I think she might be stalking me (humourously, of course). She does strike a pose when out and about. I didn’t see her at the Rebelles though…maybe too racy for her?

Oh, man! I love the Indigo Girls. That brings back memories from college…haha!

Yeah, I think it was downright lazy for them to leave the nets up. I mean, if they could spend the day building that big-ass stage, they could get a crane and take down the foul nets!

Well, I must say that the beautiful lezzes were few and far between, from my pov, at least. I don’t think E was in fantasy heaven (except when he looked at me, of course). And can we get the girls to stop dressing like gas station employees? What’s the deal with that?
