Not a surprise at all, and yet one more reason to eat whole foods rather than processed foods. Who really needs Fruit Loops and Coca-Cola anyway?

Mercury naturally will dissipate out of the body over time, even at high doses, so long as you can avoid new exposures.

Chelation therapies worry me because they can force a bolus of mercury through the kidneys all at once, which can be nephrotoxic.

No surprises.... the FDA has been complacent on mercury for ages... so has the ADA for putting it in amalgam fillings and also fluoride in your drinking water and toothpaste so aluminum refiners would have a place to get rid of the toxic byproducts after smelting for aluminum. Do the research... the papers and info is all out there. Deadliest toxic poison #1 and #2 to humans... being put in our food and bodies... surprise surprise.

@ Shannon: Jon Barron has an excellent herbal detox program that removes mercury from the body using cilantro oil and something else that is safe and highly effective. He is a fav of mine and really knows his stuff. Check out his sister site at http://www.baselinenutritionals.com/

and no I don't make any money from suggesting him. I just really like his stuff.

Another good detox program is from http://barefootherbalistmh.com/

Good stuff, good results... get the poisons out and live normally again. I've been working on doing it for years too~! :)

This is sick.. I was almost diagnosed with leukemia due to mercury toxicity in my body.. This really makes me upset that these food companies aren't doing something about this. Thanks for the article, it just adds to the list of foods I cant eat

and all this AFTER the FDA approved HFCS as a "natural" sweetner and the Corn industry ran all those lovely (false) commercials about how HFCS is just fine and no worse then sugar.

I am sickened beyond words by this - it's been over a week since this story broke and I am amazed that no company (like Hershey or Heinz) has stepped up to make a statement and remove this stuff from our food.
