Here we go. Thanks, Petulant, for finding this so fast. Thanks, WYFF’s Kelly Coakley, for being so smooth and professional. Also, thanks to Matt Buys for the veggie pinata story, which I’ve milked. BTW, I had no idea they were going to spotlight photos from my Flickr gallery. But heck yeah! Roller girl, Sarah Palin protesters, etc. Nor did I know I’d be talking inexpensive kid parties for much of the time. Party on!

I’ll be the guest blogger on WYFF/Channel 4 this Sunday morning at like 7:20 a.m. Does anyone watch teevee then?

Frank Kracher says he’ll be watching. So I can look into the camera and imagine Frank laughing with (at) me.

I’ll be talking to weekend news anchor Kelly Coakley about blogging and this blog and, I guess, about the rugrats. Should be fun. I’m going to need some extra under eye makeup at that time of the morning though. Holy dark circles.

I sent this photo to be used as a still. Think they’ll put it up on Sunday morning in South Carolina?

For this week’s kids’ issue at Mountain Xpress, I wrote the lead story on local stay-at-home dads. Make sure to read to the end for a hilarious SAHD joke.

Here’s an excerpt:

“Matt Buys admits he had no clue what he was doing initially.

‘The first time I went shopping for diapers, it took me 20 minutes to figure out which kind to buy,’ he says.

Then he mentions the challenge of potty training his oldest.

‘I had no idea how to do it. Finally, I thought, ‘This kid really likes fireworks.’ So I told him every time he used the bathroom we’d go outside and set off a firecracker.’”

(Here’s video of Wild and Bryan Freeborn from this morning’s Today Show, 3/13/09).

A couple of weeks ago I blogged about Asheville Girl Scout Wild Freeborn, who, via a YouTube video and some social media savvy, was trying to sell enough boxes of Girl Scout cookies to send her entire troop to GS camp for a week.

I bought 4 boxes from Wild, who told me she ended up selling around 700 total boxes, all to folks in the Asheville area (not enough to send the entire troop to camp, but still impressive). Despite her initiative and business aptitude, the Girl Scouts’ national organization made Wild remove the YouTube video, as they have an archaic rule about not selling on-line (which in truth, Wild wasn’t. No $ went over the Internets).

Two days ago, Newsweek published a story about Wild, which garnered hundreds of comments. Today Wild and her dad, Bryan Freeborn, are heading up to NYC to make an appearance on The Today Show.

Congrats to Wild for trying, inadvertantly, to drag the Girl Scouts into the 21st century. Sometimes, kids really do have the best ideas.

Here I am talking about my friend Michael, local fotog extraordinaire. Go here to vote for Michael–send him around the world to photograph walls and the people who live and work near them!

After my girl got sick, I became obsessed with the on-going peanut product recall. Here’s this week’s column on the subject for Mountain Xpress.

Anyone else feeling frustrated about all this?
