Weekly parent: dealing with the peanut recall

After my girl got sick, I became obsessed with the on-going peanut product recall. Here’s this week’s column on the subject for Mountain Xpress.

Anyone else feeling frustrated about all this?

Uncle Huel had to give up his “Buh” crackers that he ate every morning for breakfast. (Austin peanut butter malted crx) and so we had to hunt for something for him to eat…..that I didn’t have to cook. Bring back the peanut butter spread. He can eat the Lance brand tho.

Are you sure that Crispy Cat Roasted Peanut bars are on the FDA list? I couldn’t find them there. I have a whole box of those babies and I am not giving them up so easily.

    Laurie,
The Crispy Cat Roasted Peanut bars are definitely on United Foods recall list. Also, if you’ll notice, they aren’t for sale around town anymore. I’ve seen the Toasted Almond and Coconut Mint, but no RP. That said, I’m guessing the chances of one of those bars being tainted are pretty low. I might not feed one to my kids, but I might be persuaded to eat one myself.
