Top shots of 2008
Here are my top Flickr shots of 2008. I need to go through the 5,000 photos I took this year and see if there's anything decent I neglected to upload. Probably not. These will do.
Other Albums
Barack Obama in Asheville

Group Photos
Asheville Street Photography
Street Photography References: Please see this article for a history and description of street photography. The flickr group Decisive Moment is a great reference for what we are looking for. Guidelines: 1) Keep it clean. 2) You may only post 2 photos per day. 3) Group will be loosely moderated to keep the pool focused.
Asheville Video
All about moving images in and around Asheville, NC. Doesn't have to have obvious references to places here; we trust you.
Create Memories to Share -Take Photographs!
Sharing our memories through the art of photography. A memory of a sunny day, of a "first" in a life, of a beautiful flower, of a sad moment...a memory good or bad.

You are invited to share your wonderful photograph in our group Create Memories to Share - Take Photographs. It's a moment in time that was here for but a fleeting moment. A memory preserved only by the click of a shutter and a memory in our mind. It is not necessarily a memory of a person, it could be a place, a thing...it's your memory!
****Stop copying********

Photojournalistic Drive
For photographers who are passionate about the images they make, and desire to tell stories with them. You need not now, or ever, have worked as a photojournalist to be a member. It is a style, and a drive to make certain types of images, that will connect the members of this group. Beginners and pros, please feel welcome! Photojournalism, documentary and street photography are what you will mainly see here, but the rules are a little loose on what fits, and what does not. Portraits are allowed, but it should be evident that there is something to be told. Landscape and nature photos probably won't work in this group. This is not the place for studio shots. If your image would be/could be hypothetically picked up by a legitimate news publication, then the image will work here. You are encouraged to describe your photo in the same manner as writing a true cutline, but this is not a requirement. Extra bonus points if you do a cutline in AP style! The group will be moderated and curated, so that members can rely on this as a place to share, learn, and meet other like minded shooters. Curating also tends to discourage dump and run "participants." Don't have your feelings hurt if your image is not accepted in the pool. Rejection is a real part of the PJ biz, and editors exist, like it or not.
Reasons Of Our Humanity
This group is about ordinary people, places, pets, and all things that if allowed will go virtually unnoticed. Things, as such, ordinary people in ordinary places doing ordinary things. Things that make us smile, laugh, cry and wonder that we have captured on film. Our smiles, laughter, our stupidity, and yes, even our morbidness, we can share and wonder what it's all about.
Perhaps we can get to know the characters who grace our world, if only for a fleeting moment in time.
Check out our bi-weekly contests and games!
Just a sampling of where some of our members are from

Well voting has closed in our People in Uniform Contest! I am disappointed that only four folks voted however we do have a first place winner and a tie for second.
Our First Place Winner is # by Tippatree
Our Second Place winners are in no particular order other than how they were posted
#3 by Sonna Jansson
and #7 by MaraHermes
Congrats to everyone who put a photo forward. They were ALL winners and I hope that you all take the time to visit and comment on them.
If you have any suggestions for upcoming contests please send Gangie an email at gangie@sympatico.ca ! :-)
If you are wondering why some are medium size and some are the small size it all depends on how folks have their security settings. I go in and "grab" the code from the original photo posted most of the time if I am able however if I am not permitted then I grab the code from the actual discussion which was small size only. It is no way done on purpose rather just the way you have your settings :-)

You have been invited to join our group by being asked to post a photo to it. If you are new to flickr this may help you in how to post your photo to our group.
In order to post to the general pool you become a member of the group. You then go to the photo that was invited (or any photo that you wish to post to our group) and you should see above the photo an icon with "Send to group". You then can just find Reasons Of Our Humanity and click on Okay when the box pops up.
The paste the code is if you wanted to post a photo in one of the "games" going on in the discussion in the group. You can view all sizes of your photo. Click on Small Or Medium. There will be a box under your photo with some HTML code that you need to copy and then paste into the discussion where it says "Reply to this discussion".
